Xylophone Effect

A term sometimes humorously used to describe the unintended, musical noise produced when loose wooden flooring or decking planks are walked upon. Example: After installing the new hardwood floor, the contractor needed to address the xylophone effect in several areas where the boards were not securely fastened.
