Time-and-Materials Contract

A contractual arrangement that agrees to pay based on the actual cost of direct labor, usually at specified hourly rates, and materials used. Example: For the custom cabinetry work, they used a time-and-materials contract to allow flexibility in design changes without affecting the overall cost agreement.
